Portuguese
Podengo Pequenos seem to love Agility
as it gives their body work to do. They
are quick to learn the different obstacles and jumps. Their
excellent sense of sight enables them to read the body
language of the handler very easily.
In this picture,
Racio is coming out of the collapsed chute
at a run looking to see what the handler wants him to
do next on the course. |

Moving over the Teeter Totter:
Climbing up the teeter totter to
the pivotal point requires some getting "used to" by any
dog. Being a small dog, the PPP has to be sure that they are
balanced on the board so that it will also go down with
their lesser weight and they may continue on with ease and
speed.

Clearing
the single bar jump:
Racio is clearing the single bar
jump and looking to see what the handler wants him to do
next. Keeping the PPP's attention does not seem to be
a problem in Agility as the pace is fast. |
 |
The Dog Walk:
Moving up the ramp and across
the 4.5 foot high, 12 foot long dog walk is an easy task for
the PPP as they are bred to be able to climb, jump, and
scramble across and through rough terrain and over rocky
ledges and boulders in their native country of Portugal as
they hunt for rabbits. |
 |
Climbing
the A-Frame:
Climbing the 6 foot high A-Frame
may seem scary, but PPP's love the scramble up and are
careful in the coming down. |
 |
Traveling
through the Tunnel:
The tunnel is one of the most
enjoyed obstacles that the PPP encounters in Agility.
Sometimes they play "games" with you when they're in it.
Whether it reminds them of an overly large burrow or a
"critter's" den, they enjoy this particular obstacle a great
deal. |
